Thick Tag Cardboard Printing Pressure Control and Punching Synchronization Flexo Technology

This technical article focuses on thick hang tag cardboard flexo printing characteristics, analyzes pressure adaptation difficulties for thick paper substrates, and introduces inline punching and die-cutting synchronous control technology for garment and luggage tags.

Flexo tags and labels printing mainly covers thick paper hang tags, synthetic paper tags and heat-resistant clothing care labels, featuring thicker substrate thickness, rigid paper texture and required inline hole punching process. Compared with self-adhesive thin labels, hang tags need higher printing pressure, stronger paper transmission power and precise punching position synchronization function.

Thick tag cardboard brings larger printing pressure load to flexo press impression cylinder. Ordinary standard impression pressure cannot realize complete ink transfer on thick rigid paper, while excessive pressure will cause mechanical cylinder deformation. Linear pressure increasing matching curve is required adapting different tag paper thickness.

Hierarchical pressure matching standard for different tag substrates. 200g to 250g common paper tags adopt 0.22MPa standard impression pressure; 300g to 350g thick hard paper tags need 0.28MPa enhanced printing pressure; waterproof synthetic paper tags need optimized pressure plus corona pretreatment to improve ink adhesion.

Inline punching position synchronization technology for hang tag production. Round hanging holes need precise fixed position relative to printed tag patterns. The punching servo shaft keeps phase synchronization with printing cylinder in real time, ensuring hole position deviation controlled within 0.1mm. Position deviation will lead to unqualified tags unable to pass through hanging ropes.

Anti-cracking process for tag folded creases. Many garment tags have folding crease lines, requiring flexible ink to avoid crease cracking after folding. Elastic modified flexo ink is matched with proper reduced crease position pressure to protect ink layer integrity during tag folding.

High wear resistance ink configuration for outdoor luggage tags. Luggage tags face long-term outdoor friction and sunlight exposure. UV curing flexo ink with anti-ultraviolet additive is adopted to improve pattern friction resistance and anti-fading performance, prolonging outdoor tag service life effectively.
